形態特徵

• Stems spirally twisted, twining, terete.
• Petiole 1–1.7 cm long; leaf blade lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, occasionally linear lanceolate, 2–7 cm long, 0.5–2.5 cm long wide, base rounded to shallowly cordate, margin crenulate, apex acuminate, veins 3.
• Inflorescences 1- or 2-flowered; bracts 1 pair, usually leaf-like, ovate to lanceolate. Pedicel 1–3 mm long, or nearly absent. Calyx campanulate; tube 3–7 mm long, wingless; lobes linear, 1–7 mm long. Corolla light pink-purple, longitudinally red-purple striped outside, narrowly campanulate, 2–3.2 cm long; lobes triangular, 2–3 mm long, apex acuminate; plicae semi-orbicular, 1–1.5 mm long. Filaments linear, 1.2–2 cm long; anthers ellipsoid, ca. 0.8 mm long. Disc 1–1.5 mm long. Ovary 6–12 mm long, gynophore 2–3 mm long. Style linear, 1–1.5 cm long.
• Berries red-purple, subglobose to ellipsoid, 1.5–2.3 cm long, 0.8–1.2 cm long across; gynophore as long as calyx tube. Seeds dark, ellipsoid to ovoid, triquetrous, ca. 2 mm long, wingless.
• T. luzonense is similar to T. taiwanense in many respects. The former is characterized by its subglobose fruit with a pit on the apical 1/3 (Murata, 1989) and light pink-purple corolla with longitudinally red-purple stripes outside; the latter is characte
